Ethel's memorial service was then held nearly a week after her death at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle on Wednesday, Oct. 16, with several of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in attendance.

CBS announced the Tony Award-winning actor and his son James, 22, are set to appear in an upcoming episode of Elsbeth in 2025, which marks the first time the father-son duo will appear on screen together.

Matthew, 62, will play Lawrence Grey, the man “Manhattan’s elite call” when they want to make sure their kids “get into the prep school and then college of their choice … no matter their grades, test scores or personality" on the CBS procedural, according to an official release from the network. Grey’s job keeps him connected to the rich and powerful until someone “threatens his perch” and he is driven to murder.

While this may be James’ first appearance with his dad, the Brown University senior is no stranger to acting. According to Deadline, he majors in theater and is active in the New York theater scene. He also had a small part in the Apple TV+ series Lady in the Lake, starring Natalie Portman.

And despite a wildly successful movie and stage career, dad Matthew — who shares James and 15-year-old twins Tabitha and Marion with wife Sarah Jessica Parker, 59 — has made it clear that the role of “father” remains the closest to his heart.

It just happens, you know?” The No Hard Feelings actor said of fatherhood while speaking to Entertainment Tonight at the Father of the Year Gala in 2023. “You don't really know how to do it, and then suddenly you're a dad. But I'm very happy that that happened.

James, who accompanied his dad to the event, jokingly added, “I didn't really choose for him to be my dad either, in the same fashion. But I'm extremely happy."

Elsbeth, a spin-off of The Good Wife, stars Carrie Preston as an unconventional attorney who uses her unique and quirky perspective to help the N.Y.P.D. solve crimes. It premiered in February 2024 and often features actors from the New York theater scene including Matthew's Producers costar Nathan Lane, who guest starred on the show's season 2 premiere.

On Monday, Nov. 25, the three-time Super Bowl champion, 29, shared footage of his latest collaboration with Adidas on Instagram. The spot featured a special appearance from his nearly 2-year-old son Patrick "Bronze" Lavon Mahomes III, ahead of his birthday on Nov. 28.

In the sweet video, images and footage of Mahomes, his son and the bronze-colored shoes flash across the screen in pops of red and black. Eagle-eyed viewers might also catch that Mahomes' daughter, 3-year-old Sterling Skye, also appears in the clip, sitting on a bronze-colored tricycle.

Three rings, three stripes, three generations, the Chiefs player says in a voiceover, referring to himself, his son and his father, former MLB pitcher Pat Mahomes.

The legend lives on the field, the quarterback continues, as he and Bronze play together and the toddler can be seen carrying a glittering football. "The legacy lives at home."

In a separate post, the athletic wear company showed off images of the bronze-colored shoes, which feature a glittery spin on the classic Adidas stripes design as well as bronze laces to finish the look.

Mahomes' wife Brittany, 28, also shared the promo video to her Instagram Stories, and couldn't hold back her excitement at seeing her toddler on film.

Mahomes has long worked with the sportswear brand on shoes, jerseys and more — and earlier this year, the NFL superstar even announced that he and Adidas were collaborating to sign six students from his alma mater, Texas Tech, to receive an NIL (name, image and likeness) deal.

Student-athletes from several sports — including football, softball, basketball, golf, soccer and baseball were signed to his and Adidas' Team Mahomes brand so they could participate in marketing campaigns, including for Mahomes’ signature shoe and clothing lines.

Adidas has been a collaborative partner from the start, and we worked together to select athletes who are among the best and embody the drive and dedication we’re looking for in a Team Mahomes athlete. We've got a lot of great stuff coming up for the Red Raiders – stay tuned for more, the quarterback said when the news was announced in July.

Celebs Age

At the time, the couple — who tied the knot after 10 years of dating in 2022 — shared a sweet video of themselves with their two kids having a photo shoot in all-white outfits, as they smile, laugh and dance around with sonogram photos in their hands.

The actress, 50, posted a sweet video of herself and her new dog, Magic, getting ready for a photoshoot on Instagram on Monday, Nov. 25.

Mendes spoke exclusively to PEOPLE earlier this year about her life at 50. She didn't expect to have children or a family — "locked down," she said, but she's glad that "a certain man came into my life and made me change my mind about all that stuff."

The actress hinted in 2022 that she and her longtime partner Ryan Gosling were married when fans noticed a tattoo that read "de Gosling", which could be indicative of a "Mrs. Gosling" title. She also referred to Gosling as her "husband" that year. The couple have been together since 2011 and share two daughters — Esmeralda Amada, 10, and Amada Lee, 8.

Mendes stepped away from Hollywood a decade ago to focus on her family, with 2014's Lost River being her most recent film. She told PEOPLE in May that it was "the easiest decision" she's ever made.

PEOPLE has an exclusive first look at Rafferty and Adams’ Suits auditions — and their reaction to the tapes — as they watch alongside casting director Bonnie Zane on their SiriusXM podcast, Sidebar: A Suits Watch Podcast. In the clip, Adams, who played Mike Ross, surprises Rafferty by first playing her audition for Donna Paulsen.

“Bonnie has brought with her, dear listener, our auditions,” he begins. “Sarah, I don't know if you're prepared for this, mentally or emotionally. I've never seen it. She texted it to us earlier this week, we both did not watch it, which is funny, we both independently were like, ‘Thanks so much,’ and did not watch it. And then we thought this might be, while deeply uncomfortable, a cathartic, cool thing to do together.”

“I'm in freeze, I'm in freeze,” she says. “Oh gosh, my heart hurts a little bit. God, I was young — I was young once! This is like the only time I'm going to go, ‘Yeah, I'd give that girl that part.’”

“I loved the nonverbal,” Zane explains. “You just created a whole back story and front story, and there wasn't a lot to do for Donna in that audition because there wasn't a lot in the pilot for Donna, and you took that. And the mistake that actors make is, ‘Okay, I only have five pages, I only have three pages, I got to make a meal,’ and you just kind of laid it out there for what it was: simple, great. And that's probably what sparked the initial interest.”

Reflecting on that time in her life, Rafferty reveals she had been thinking about quitting acting before she got the role on Suits, but she decided to give it one more chance.

“I was like, ‘Yeah, I'll just go, I'll fly myself to New York, I'll get the Airbnb, let me give it a shot,’” she remembers. “‘It's not working the usual way with the testing, the run it up the flag pole, the pilots aren't getting picked up, you know, the thing is happening, so let's try it this way.’”

Rafferty also shares that at that audition, she could feel that there was “something more to this character” that went beyond the script, and once she got the part, she was able to dig deeper into who she felt Donna was.

“[It’s] actually one of those things that, in an audition, it's useful, because it's indicating there is more story here to tell,” Adams notes. “Then you get into the nuance of like, ‘Well, now we have a whole show.’”

He then pulls up his own tape, joking that they had run out of time to play it. Looking at himself over a decade ago, he recalled his preparation for the audition.

“I bought this suit just for this audition – I still have it,” Adams says. “It does not fit, not even close, but I remember I went and spent a good amount of money on a suit, and I did not have money to spend. But I was like,’ I need an actual, real-life grown-up suit.’”

The scene was longer than Rafferty’s and showed Mike trying to get hired by Harvey Specter, who ended up being played by Gabriel Macht. When it ends, Rafferty and Zane applaud Adams as he exclaims, “Woah. Woah.”
